Is it best to use HEBREW or GREEK "names" of God and His Son and say the rest of the Bible verse in English? Does it matter?

"To pray in Christ's name means much. It means that we are to accept His character, manifest His spirit, and work His works. The Saviour's promise is given on condition. If ye love Me, He says, keep My commandments. He saves men, not in sin, but from sin; and those who love Him will show their love by obedience" (The Desire of Ages, 668).

Is using the name Jesus okay?

Please note: I am requesting that when you comment in the groups I admin, that you use names such God, the Father, Jesus, Messiah, Christ, Saviour etc. If using Lord, please be clear as it is a title that can apply to the Father and Son.

Using these so called sacred names adds confusion. To begin with, there is no consistency in the name to be used anyway. And so confusion reigns which is not what we want.

So comments using so called sacred names will be deleted and such posts will not be approved for the sake of avoiding confusion.

So let’s keep this issue simple…

For those who say the name Jesus is wrong, Ellen White used it over 60,000 times!!!

If it is wrong, then Ellen White would be a false prophet, which she is NOT!

If you want more evidence, then please watch the video below.

How to PRAY in the Spirit Jesus said in John 6:63 MY WORDS ARE SPIRIT AND THEY ARE LIFE! MY "WORDS"! That is what Jesus came down from Heaven to GIVE US! IT is the WORDS of HIS FATHER!!! We can claim them to become like Christ and to work HIS WORKS! See John 6:29 "
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." to learn what GOD'S WORK really and truly is!

 I learned this from someone......The problem is that most Hebrew and Greek used today to look up words are PAGAN HEBREW AND GREEK, such as the STRONG'S CONCORDANCE, which comes from the corrupt text of WESTCOTT AND HORT.

According to the Prophet, She tells us 2 Things in regards to this:

#1. We are to use Williams Miller's Rules When Studying the 'Third Angel's Message'

Miller's Rule #14 says we don't need the Hebrew and the Greek
(I have attached the document of Miller's Rules along with the quote where she says we are to study according to his rules)

#2: The prophet says when we are teaching the prophecies the correct way, WE WILL ONLY USE THE BIBLE TO BE ITS OWN EXPOSITOR. Expositor = Interpreter, Vocabulary, and Dictionary. We won't use the Hebrew and the Greek. They did this in Miller's day saying “day” cannot = 1 year in prophecy because in the Hebrew and Greek, day = mornings and evenings, not a year (Look at the end in regards to What Miller said regarding this)

“…He who presents the truth of the prophecies in the right way will use scripture to explain scripture. He will make the Bible its own expositor.” {2MR 96.2} 1908

We are not to use Hebrew and Greek to explain the Bible? This would do away with a lot of heresy like the Sacred Name movement and would help people to know that we are to claim Bible verse promises to become partakers of Divine Nature - having a perfect character like Christ, etc. Instead the sacred name movement causes people to rely upon a "Hebrew" or "Greek" language for salvation (YAH, or Yeshua) instead of the Word of God.

The experience of William Miller and his associates, of Captain Joseph Bates, and of other pioneers in the advent message, should be kept before our people. (Letter 105, 1903).

“'But,' says the critic, 'it is “evenings-mornings.”' {1853 SB, MWM 207.2}

“No matter: all men seem to understand it days; for it is so translated in every language with which we are acquainted at the present day. Therefore, this can never be made plainer, if this compound Hebrew word should be criticized upon until the judgment shall set. I am sick of this continual harping upon words. Our learned critics are worse on the waters of truth than a school of sharks on the fishing-banks of the north, and they have made more infidels in our world than all the heathen mythology in existence. What word in revelation has not been turned, twisted, racked, wrested, distorted, demolished, and annihilated by these voracious harpies in human shape, until the public have become so bewildered they know not what to believe? 'They have fouled the waters with their feet.' I have always noticed where they tread the religious spirit is at a low ebb; it becomes cold, formal, and doubtful, at least. It is the mind of the Spirit we want, and God's word then becomes spirit and life unto us.” {1853 SB, MWM 207.3}
“'The words “evenings-mornings” convey to our mind the idea of days; thus this vision is 2300 days long,' says the reader. {1853 SB, MWM 207.4}

“'Yes. But how can all this be?' says the inquiring mind. 'Can three kingdoms rise up and become great; from a small people become a strong nation; conquer all the nations of the earth, and then, in its turn, be subdued and conquered by a kingdom still more fortunate; and so on through three successive kingdoms, and do this in little over six years? Impossible.' {1853 SB, MWM 207.5}

“'But God has said it, and I must believe. Now the only difficulty is in time.' {1853 SB, MWM 207.6}
”'How can this be?' {1853 SB, MWM 207.7}

“'Very well,' says the dear child of God; 'I remember me: God says I must “dig for the truth as for hid treasure.” I will go to work, and, while I am digging, I will live by begging. Father in heaven, I believe it is thy word; but I do not understand it; show me thy truth.' {1853 SB, MWM 208.1}

“I had rather have one humble prayer of this kind, with an English Bible in my hand, than all the Hebrew, Greek, and Latin Bro. S. ever knew.” {1853 SB, MWM 208.2}

William Miller’s 14 Rules of Interpretation

“The record of the experience through which the people of God passed in the early history of our work must be republished. Many of those who have since come into the truth are ignorant of the way in which the Lord wrought. The experience of William Miller…should be kept before our people...” {CW 145.2}

“Those who are engaged in proclaiming the third angel's message are searching the Scriptures upon the same plan that Father Miller adopted. In the little book entitled “Views of the Prophecies and Prophetic Chronology,” Father Miller gives the following simple but intelligent and important rules for Bible study and interpretation:” -- {RH, November 25, 1884 par. 23}

“1. Every word must have its proper bearing on the subject presented in the Bible;
2. All Scripture is necessary, and may be understood by diligent application and study;
3. Nothing revealed in Scripture can or will be hid from those who ask in faith, not wavering;
4. To understand doctrine, bring all the scriptures together on the subject you wish to know, then let every word have its proper influence; and if you can form your theory without a contradiction, you cannot be in error;
5. Scripture must be its own expositor, since it is a rule of itself. If I depend on a teacher to expound to me, and he should guess at its meaning, or desire to have it so on account of his sectarian creed, or to be thought wise, then his guessing, desire, creed, or wisdom is my rule, and not the Bible.” {RH, Nov. 25, 1884 par. 24}

“The above is a portion of these rules; and in our study of the Bible we shall all do well to heed the principles set forth.” {RH, November 25, 1884 par. 25}

“In studying the Bible, I have found the following rules to be of great service to myself, and now give them to the public by special request. Every rule should be well studied, in connection with the scripture references, if the Bible student would be at all benefited by them.” {1842 WiM, MWV1 20.1}

RULE I – Every word must have its proper bearing on the subject presented in the Bible.
{1842 WiM, MWV1 20.2}
PROOF – Matt.v.18. {1842 WiM, MWV1 20.3}

RULE II – All scripture is necessary, and may be understood by a diligent application and study.
{1842 WiM, MWV1 20.4}
PROOF – 2Tim.iii.15,16,17. {1842 WiM, MWV1 20.5}

RULE III – Nothing revealed in the scripture can or will be hid from those who ask in faith, not wavering.
{1842 WiM, MWV1 20.6}
PROOF – Deut.xxix.29. Matt.x.26,27. 1Cor.ii.10. Phil.iii.15. Isa.xiv.11. Matt.xxi.22. John xiv.13,14. xv.7.
James i.5,6. 1John v.13,14,15. {1842 WiM, MWV1 20.7}

RULE IV – To understand doctrine, bring all the scriptures together on the subject you wish to know; then let every word have its proper influence, and if you can form your theory without a contradiction, you cannot be in an error. {1842 WiM, MWV1 20.8}

PROOF – Isa.xxviii.7-29. xxxv.8. Prov.xix.27. Luke xxiv.27,44,45. Rom.xvi.26. James v.19. 2Pet.i.19,29.
{1842 WiM, MWV1 20.9}

RULE V – Scripture must be its own expositor, since it is a rule of itself. If I depend on a teacher to expound it to me, and he should guess at its meaning, or desire to have it so on account of his sectarian creed, or to be {1842 WiM, MWV1 20.10} thought wise, then his guessing, desire, creed or wisdom is my rule, not the Bible. {1842 WiM, MWV1 21.1}

PROOF – Ps.xix.7,8,9,10,11. cxix.97,98,99,100,101,102,103,104,105. Matt.xxiii.8,9,10. 1Cor.ii.12,13,14,15,16.
Eze.xxxiv.18,19. Luke xi.52. Mal.ii.7,8. {1842 WiM, MWV1 20.11}

RULE VI – God has revealed things to come, by visions, in figures and parables, and in this way the same things are oftentime revealed again and again, by different visions, or in different figures, and parables. If you wish to understand them, you must combine them all in one. {1842 WiM, MWV1 21.2}

PROOF – Ps.lxxxix.19. Hos.xii.10. Hab.ii.2. Acts ii.17. 1Cor.x.6. Heb.ix.9,24. Ps.lxxviii.2. Matt.xiii.13,34. Gen.xli.1-32. Dan.ii. vii. and viii. Acts x.9-16. {1842 WiM, MWV1 21.3}

RULE VII – Visions are always mentioned as such.
PROOF – 2Cor.xii.1

RULE VIII – Figures always have a figurative meaning, and are used much in prophecy, to represent future things, times and events; such as mountains, meaning governments; beasts, meaning kingdoms.
{1842 WiM, MWV1 21.4}
Waters, meaning people. Lamp, meaning Word of God. Day, meaning year. {1842 WiM, MWV1 21.5}
PROOF – Dan.ii.35,44, vii.8,17, Rev.xvii.1,15, Ps.cxix.105. Ezek.iv.6. {1842 WiM, MWV1 21.6}

RULE IX – Parables are used as comparisons to illustrate subjects, and must be explained in the same way as figures by the subject and Bible. Mark iv.13. See explanation of the ten virgins, Miller's Lectures, No.xvi. {1842 WiM, MWV1 21.7}

RULE X – Figures sometimes have two or more different significations, as day is used in a figurative sense to represent three different periods of time. {1842 WiM, MWV1 21.8}
PROOF – Ecc.vii.14. {1842 WiM, MWV1 21.9

RULE X. (continued)
1. Indefinite. 2. Definite, a day for a year. 3. Day for a thousand years If you put on the right construction it will harmonize with the Bible and make good sense, otherwise it will not. {1842 WiM, MWV1 22.1}

PROOF – Ezek.iv.6. 2Pet.iii.8. {1842 WiM, MWV1 22.2}

RULE XI – How to know when a word is used figuratively. If it makes good sense as it stands, and does no violence to the simple laws of nature, then it must be understood literally, if not, figuratively. {1842 WiM, MWV1 22.3}

PROOF – Rev.xii.1,2. xvii.3-7. {1842 WiM, MWV1 22.4}

RULE XII – To learn the true meaning of figures, trace your figurative word through your Bible, and where you find it explained, put it on your figure, and if it makes good sense you need look no further, if not, look again. {1842 WiM, MWV1 22.5}

RULE XIII – To know whether we have the true historical event for the fulfilment of a prophecy. If you find every word of the prophecy (after the figures are understood) is literally fulfilled, then you may know that your history is the true event. But if one word lacks a fulfilment, then you must look for another event, or wait its future development. For God takes care that history and prophecy doth agree, so that the true believing children of God may never be ashamed. {1842 WiM, MWV1 22.6}

PROOF – Ps.xxii.5. Isa.xlv.17,18,19. 1Pet.ii.6. Rev.xvii.17. Acts iii.18. {1842 WiM, MWV1 22.7}

RULE XIV – The most important rule of all is, that you must have faith. It must be a faith that requires a sacrifice, and, if tried, would give up the dearest object on earth, the world and all its desires, character, living, occupation, friends, home, comforts, and worldly honors. If any of these should hinder our believing any part of God's word, it would show our faith to be vain. Nor can we ever believe so long as one of these motives lies lurking in our hearts. We must believe that God will never forfeit his word. And we can have confidence that he that takes notice of the sparrow, and numbers the hairs of our head, will guard the translation of his own word, and throw a barrier around it, and prevent those who sincerely trust in God, and put implicit confidence in his word, from erring far from the truth, though they may not understand Hebrew or Greek.” {1842 WiM, MWV1 22.8}

These are some of the most important rules which I find the word of God warrants me to adopt and follow, in order for system and regularity. And if I am not greatly deceived, in so doing, I have found the Bible, as a whole, one of the most simple, plain, and intelligible books ever written, containing proof in itself of its divine origin, and full of all knowledge that our hearts could wish to know or enjoy. I have found it a treasure which the world cannot purchase. It gives a calm peace in believing, and a firm hope in the future. It sustains the mind in adversity, and teaches us to be humble in prosperity. It prepares us to love and do good to others, and to realize the value of the soul. It makes us bold and valiant for the truth, and nerves the arm to oppose error. It gives us a powerful weapon to break down Infidelity, and makes known the only antidote for sin. It instructs us how death will be conquered, and how the bonds of the tomb must be broken. It tells us of future events, and shows the preparation necessary to meet them. It gives us an opportunity to hold conversation with the King of kings, and reveals the best code of laws ever enacted.” {1842 WiM, MWV1 23.1}

Here’s a link for the book Sister White mentioned. If you go to pages 20-24, you will find Miller’s Rules there

Satan will use anything to get our mind onto something that will take us away from the real truth. God understands and His Son understands ALL languages, even unspoken needs and requests. If someone does not say a particular name in a particular language does not mean you have the "seal of God" on your forehead or not. It is rather if you have the CHARACTER OF GOD or the LAW OF GOD which is the NAME of GOD written to your mind, to come to the SAME MIND, the SAME IDEAS as God and His Son, not whether you say one of God's MANY names or His Son's MANY names in a particular sounding language. This idea is a red herring to keep folks from being able to perform miracles in the name of His Son which according to Rev 19:13 is the WORD OF GOD aka BIBLE VERSE COMMANDS and PROMISES. See 2 Peter 1:4

2 Peter 1:4 (KJV) "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature [character, See COL p, 69], having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

"When the character [thoughts and feelings] of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own" COL 69.1.

“Christ came to our world to represent the character of God as it is represented in His holy law; for His law is a transcript of His character. Christ was both the law and the gospel”Selected Messages, Book 2, p. 106.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul” (Ps. 19:7).

The moral DNA of Philippians 2:5-8 and 1 Corinthians 9 is the same as the moral DNA of the Decalogue! The law indeed is a transcript of God’s character, teaching the same principle of voluntarily laying aside personal rights to bless and nurture others.

Pay very close attention to, study and memorize the following quote by Ellen White:

"When we learn the power of His word, we shall not follow the suggestions of Satan in order to obtain food or to save our lives. Our only questions will be, What is God's command? and what is His promise? Knowing these, we shall obey the one, and trust the other" The Desire of Ages, p. 121.2.
THIRD COMMANDMENT: "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain" Exodus 20:7.

"To pray in Christ's name means much. It means that we are to accept His character, manifest His spirit, and work His works. The Saviour's promise is given on condition. If ye love Me, He says, keep My commandments. He saves men, not in sin, but from sin; and those who love Him will show their love by obedience" The Desire of Ages, 668.

"When the character [thoughts and feelings] of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own" COL 69.1.
"The third angel’s message has been sent forth to the world, warning men against receiving the mark of the beast or of his image in their foreheads or in their hands. To
 receive this mark means to come to the SAME DECISION as the beast has done, and to advocate the SAME IDEAS, in direct opposition to the Word of God
RH April 27, 1911, Art. B, par. 25. [SAME IDEAS LIKE SUN-DAY SACREDNESS, BELIEF IN A TRINITY, that you have to speak God's name in a particular language even if you don't speak that language. Babylonian dress, Babylonian foods, Babylonian beliefs, ETC]

"...the mother was not the daughters, but separate and distinct from them. She has had her day, and it is past, and her daughters, the [501c3 non-profit/tax-exempt in USA] Protestant sects, were the next to come on the stage and act out the
SAME MIND that the mother had when she persecuted the saints. I saw that as the mother has been declining in power the daughters had been growing and soon they will exercise the power (“BEHEADED” Rev. 20:4) once exercised by the mother"  Spalding and Magan Collection, p. 1.4.

Not taking the name of God in VAIN means do not say you are a "ADVENTIST" (Protestant) and then believe and practice Catholic doctrines.
"I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts...And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord God shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name" Isaiah 65:2, 15.

His NAME means MUCH, HIS NAME IS THE WORD OF GOD (Bible verse promises per 2 Peter 1:4) per Revelation 19:13, just because someone reads it in Hebrew, Greek, American, Chinese, Dutch, Mexican, Arab or Indian languages does not mean that person is saved, it's whether you have the CHARACTER the LAW OF GOD written to your mind. Let this MIND be in YOU that was IN CHRIST JESUS. No one is "off the hook" just because they SAY a NAME in Hebrew or Greek. Check the fruit. Look into the law of God and see if HIS CHARACTER is reflected in our thoughts, words and actions. This is the NAME of the Lord Jesus Christ who perfectly represents HIs Father's NAME aka CHARACTER to us.

What's in a NAME?

"Not by its name, but by its fruit , is the value of a tree determined. If the fruit is worthless, the name cannot save the tree from destruction. John declared to the Jews that their standing before God was to be decided BY THEIR CHARACTER AND LIFE. Profession was worthless. If their life and character were not in harmony with God’s law, they were not His people." Desire of Ages, p 106-107.

"I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts...And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord God shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name." Isaiah 65:2, 15.

The character of the Christian is shown by his daily life. Said Christ, "Every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit" (Matthew 7:17). Our Saviour compares Himself to a vine, of which His followers are the branches. He plainly declares that all who would be His disciples must bring forth fruit;

2 Peter 1:4 (KJV)
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious PROMISES: that by THESE ye might be PARTAKERS of the divine nature [CHARACTER], having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own. It is the privilege of every Christian, not only to look for, but to hasten the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. COL 69.

"We ARE NOT saved as a sect; no denominational name has any virtue to bring us into favor with God. We are saved individually as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ." E.G. White, Review and Herald Articles, vol. 2, p. 464.

Adventism is a SECT.

» Start with the Church. and you shall start from My sanctuary. So they started with the elders who were before the temple. (Ezekiel 9: 4-6)

"And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are" John 17:11.

John 17:6
I have revealed Your name to those You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours; You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.

Philippians 2:9
Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place, and gave Him the name above all names,

John 17:21
that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.

John 17:23
I in them and You in Me--that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

As Christ was GIVEN an EXALTED position, so have we been GIVEN an EXALTED position!

Conduct Befitting the Bride of a King—The church is the bride, the Lamb's wife. She should keep herself pure, sanctified, holy. Never should she indulge in any foolishness; for she is the bride of a King. Yet she does not realize her exalted position. If she understood this, she would be all-glorious within (Letter 177, 1901). 7BC 986.1

(Revelation 3:4Revelation 7:14Revelation 16:15.) Clean Garments—The church is the bride of Christ, and her members are to yoke up with their Leader. God warns us not to defile our garments (Letter 123a, 1898). 7BC 986.2

Philippians 2:5-10(KJV)

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

5, 6. Marks of Curse in Second Resurrection—At the first resurrection all come forth in immortal bloom, but at the second, the marks of the curse are visible upon all. All come up as they went down into their graves. Those who lived before the Flood, come forth with their giant-like stature, more than twice as tall as men now living upon the earth, and well proportioned. The generations after the Flood were less in stature (Spiritual Gifts 3:84, 85). 7BC 986.4

9, 10, 14 (Genesis 8:12 Peter 3:10). New Jerusalem Preserved Amid Flames—When the flood of waters was at its height upon the earth, it had the appearance of a boundless lake of water. When God finally purifies the earth, it will appear like a boundless lake of fire. As God preserved the ark amid the commotions of the Flood, because it contained eight righteous persons, He will preserve the New Jerusalem, containing the faithful of all ages, from righteous Abel down to the last saint which lived. Although the whole earth, with the exception of that portion where the city rests, will be wrapped in a sea of liquid fire, yet the city is preserved as was the ark, by a miracle of Almighty power. It stands unharmed amid the devouring elements (Spiritual Gifts 3:87). 7BC 986.5

12, 13 (Daniel 7:9, 10; see EGW comment on Exodus 31:18Matthew 5:21, 22, 27, 281 Timothy 5:24, 25Revelation 11:1;22:14). God's Law Seen in New Light—When the judgment shall sit, and everyone shall be judged by the things written in the books, the authority of God's law will be looked upon in a light altogether different from that in which it is now regarded by the Christian world. Satan has blinded their eyes and confused their understanding, as he blinded and confused Adam and Eve, and led them into transgression. The law of Jehovah is great, even as its Author is great. In the judgment it will be recognized as holy, just, and good in all its requirements. Those who transgress this law will find that they have a serious account to settle with God; for His claims are decisive (The Review and Herald, May 7, 1901). 7BC 986.6

(Romans 3:197:12Jude 15.) All the Worlds Witness Judgment—Christ would have all understand the events of His second appearing. The judgment scene will take place in the presence of all the worlds; for in this judgment the government of God will be vindicated, and His law will stand forth as “holy, and just, and good.” Then every case will be decided, and sentence will be passed upon all. Sin will not then appear attractive, but will be seen in all its hideous magnitude. All will see the relation in which they stand to God and to one another (The Review and Herald, September 20, 1898). 7BC 986.7

Deep Heart Searching—[Revelation 20:12 quoted.] Then men will have a clear, sharp remembrance of all their transactions in this life. Not a word or a deed will escape their memory. Those will be trying times. And while we are not to mourn over the time of trouble to come, let us, as Christ's followers, search our hearts as with a lighted candle to see what manner of spirit we are of. For our present and eternal good, let us criticize our actions, to see how they stand in the light of the law of God. For this law is our standard. Let every soul search his own heart (Letter 22, 1901). 7BC 986.8

(Psalm 33:13-15Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14Jeremiah 17:10Hebrews 4:13; see EGW comment on Psalm 139:1-12.) Every Case Examined—Though all nations are to pass in judgment before Him, yet He will examine the case of each individual with as close and searching scrutiny as if there were not another being on earth (The Review and Herald, January 19, 1886). 7BC 986.9

(Malachi 3:16, 171 Corinthians 3:13.) Angels Marking 7BC 986.10

Deeds of Men—All heaven is interested in our salvation. The angels of God are walking up and down the streets of these cities, and marking the deeds of men. They record in the books of God's remembrance the words of faith, the acts of love, the humility of spirit; and in that day when every man's work shall be tried of what sort it is, the work of the humble follower of Christ will stand the test, and will receive the commendation of Heaven (The Review and Herald, September 16, 1890). 7BC 986.10

As Accurate as Photographer's Plate—All of us, as beings blessed of God with reasoning powers, with intellect and judgment, should acknowledge our accountability to God. The life He has given us is a sacred responsibility, and no moment of it is to be trifled with; for we shall have to meet it again in the record of the judgment. In the books of heaven our lives are as accurately traced as in the picture on the plate of the photographer. Not only are we held accountable for what we have done, but for what we have left undone. We are held to account for our undeveloped characters, our unimproved opportunities (The Review and Herald, September 22, 1891).7BC 987.1

Our Characters Represented in Books—In the books of heaven are accurately recorded the sneers and the trivial remarks of sinners who pay no heed to the call of mercy made, as Christ is presented to them by His ministering servants. As the artist takes on the polished glass a true picture of the human face, so the angels of God daily place upon the books of heaven an exact representation of the character of every human being (The Signs of the Times, February 11, 1903). 7BC 987.2

Heaven's Service Record—All who are partakers of this great salvation wrought out by Jesus Christ are under obligation to work as laborers together with God. In the heavenly courts the roll is called, on which every name is registered, and the heavenly agencies respond to the call. The service given by every human being upon earth is there recorded. If any are negligent, it is recorded; if diligent, the same is reported; if idlers, the fact stands against their names. In all the great mass of humanity, not one is lost sight of. Then let every one be ready to answer the call, saying, “Here, Lord, ready for action.” 7BC 987.3

The world has claims upon you. If you fail to shine as lights in the world, some will rise in the judgment, and charge upon you the blood of their souls. It will be seen that you were an agent in the hands of the enemy of God and man to mislead and deceive by your profession of Christianity. You did not lead souls to piety and devotion. You had a name to live, but were spiritually dead. You had not the vitalizing influence of the Spirit of God, which is abundantly provided for all who, in faith, make demands upon it (The Review and Herald, August 16, 1898). 7BC 987.4

A Daily Inventory—God judges every man according to his work. Not only does He judge, but He sums up, day by day and hour by hour, our progress in welldoing (The Review and Herald, May 16, 1899). 7BC 987.5

12-15 (Revelation 3:5Revelation 13:821:27Revelation 22:19). The Book of Life—When we become children of God, our names are written in the Lamb's book of life, and they remain there until the time of the investigative judgment. Then the name of every individual will be called, and his record examined, by Him who declares, “I know thy works.” If in that day it shall appear that all our wicked deeds have not been fully repented of, our names will be blotted from the book of life, and our sins will stand against us (The Signs of the Times, August 6, 1885). 7BC 987.6

(Exodus 32:30-33; see EGW comment on Matthew 12:31, 32.) A Just Punishment for the Sinner—Moses manifested his great love for Israel in his entreaty to the Lord to forgive their sin, or blot his name out of the book which He had written. His intercessions here illustrate Christ's love and mediation for the sinful race. But the Lord refused to let Moses suffer for the sins of His backsliding people. He declared to him that those who had sinned against Him He would blot out of His book which He had written; for the righteous should not suffer for the guilt of the sinner. 7BC 987.7

The book here referred to is the book of records in heaven, in which every name is inscribed, and the acts of all, their sins, and obedience, are faithfully written. When individuals commit sins which are too grievous for the Lord to pardon, their names are erased from the book, and they are devoted to destruction (The Signs of the Times, May 27, 1880). 7BC 987.8

“And for their sakes I sanctify Myself,” Christ declared, “that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their word, that they all may be one, as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent Me. And the glory which Thou gavest Me I have given them, that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that Thou hast sent Me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved Me.” 15MR 163.1

Here is defined the exalted position we should occupy. Let busybodies and accusers be visited and rebuked. If after thorough labor, they do not hold their tongues in check, they should be suspended from church membership.—Manuscript 43a, 1898, pp. 12-14. (Written March 22, 1898, “The Laborer Is Worthy of His Hire.”) 15MR 163.2

There are those members who are busybodies, speaking evil, sowing the seeds of doubt and infidelity, who pay no heed to the light God has given them in His Word. If we have but one church member who by his spirit, words, and influence seeks to counterwork the influence of the minister of Christ, labor with that one faithfully; and if after taking the steps required by Christ, he will not hear, will not change his course of action, then separate him from the church, and let him know the reason why the church cannot hold him in her fellowship. 15MR 163.3

The young are required in whatsoever they do, in word or deed, to do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. I saw that but few of the youth understand what it is to be Christians, to be Christlike. They will have to learn the truths of God's word before they can conform their lives to the pattern. There is not one young person in twenty who has experienced in his life that separation from the world which the Lord requires of all who would become members of His family, children of the heavenly King. “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” 1T 510.1

What a promise is here made upon condition of obedience! Do you have to cut loose from friends and relatives in deciding to obey the elevated truths of God's word? Take courage, God has made provision for you, His arms are open to receive you. Come out from among them and be separate, and touch not the unclean, and He will receive you. He promises to be a Father unto you. Oh, what a relationship is this! higher and holier than any earthly tie. If you make the sacrifice, if you have to forsake father, mother, sisters, brothers, wife, and children for Christ's sake, you will not be friendless. God adopts you into His family; you become members of the royal household, sons and daughters of the King who rules in the heaven of heavens. Can you desire a more exalted position than is here promised? Is not this enough? Said the angel: “What could God do for the children of men more than He has already done? If such love, such exalted 1T 510.2
